It doesn’t take a majority to make a rebellion; it takes only a few determined leaders and a sound cause.”

Studio MB have designed four exhibitions for the University of Durham at Palace Green Library. Magna Carta and Lindisfarne Gospels being two. Magna Carta, the changing face of revolt, presents the story of emancipation within a contemporary context and contemporary surroundings. Positioned around the perimeter of the gallery is a timeline of protest from the Magna Carta to the Chartists.

These are the voices of rebellion. Leaders of movements who fought, and in many cases died, for a devolution of power and a fairer and more just society. While in the centre of the gallery, stand the monoliths of the establishment. The Monarchy and government who remain unmovable, unshakable and inflexible in the face of demands for greater freedoms.

What’s the story...

This is the turbulent story charting the changing face of revolt, presenting the continual fight for devolution of power and a fairer and more just society.”
