...details of the room within emerged slowly from the mist, strange animals, statues, and gold – everywhere the glint of gold”

Studio MB work all over the world, but it's always a special pleasure to do projects just up the road. Over the years, we have designed many exhibitions for the National Museums of Scotland. After completing the record breaking exhibition Nicholas and Alexandria, Last Tsar and Tzarina, Studio MB were commissioned to undertake two follow up exhibitions;

Fascinating Mummies, presenting the wonderful collections from the Rijksmuseum van Oudheden, Lieden; and Catherine the Great, presenting the stunning collections from the State Hermitage. The placing and positioning of the narrative and the objects, at just the right moments seems obvious, but was key to the story telling and the overall success of both exhibitions.

What’s the story...

This is a fascinating story of life everlasting, and presents revelation and discovery through the history and science of mummification.”

In my position you have to read when you want to write and to talk when you would like to read.”

What’s the story...

This is a majestic story of Russia’s enlightened empress, and presents the incredible collections of art she amassed throughout her lifetime.”

What the client said...

It has as always been an absolute pleasure to work with Studio MB – an international design company and literally just down the road. Everyone is completely raving about the exhibition – the design is simply wonderful and attracting a huge amount of praise, so all credit to the Studio MB team.”
