Army Museums Ogilby Trust Conference
Studio MB were delighted to be named as the Headline Sponsor for this year’s Army Museums Ogilby Trust (AMOT) Conference. For the Trust’s 65th anniversary celebration in early October, the London Scottish Regimental Drill Hall became a hub for discussion for Trustees, Curators, Educators and Front of House staff from military museums across the UK. In our role as Headline Sponsor, we hoped to use this opportunity to learn more about AMOT’s ambitions for the future and to continue to develop our understanding of issues important to the sector. Our Founding Directors, Charlie Barr and Craig Mann (pictured presenting and with AMOT Director Andrew Lloyd MBE), and Senior 3D Designer, Mhairi Naismith, headed down to London for the day.
For many years, Studio MB have worked to support and promote the museums of the British Army, with clients that include the Black Watch Museum, Green Howards Museum and the York Army Museum. Our fascination and interest in British military history continually attracts us to these projects as we explore and challenge how narratives can be represented in ways that will better attract, inform and excite visitors.
We have a number of ongoing military projects in the UK for clients such as The London Scottish Regiment, the Royal Armouries in Leeds and London, Trent Park Museum in Enfield, Scapa Flow Visitor Centre on Orkney and Coastal Forces Museum for the National Museum of the Royal Navy. One of our more recently finished projects is The D-Day Story in Portsmouth. Having provided design and build services, along with graphics and the creative direction of AV hardware and software, we were thrilled to learn it was nominated for European Museum of the Year 2019.
AMOT’s conference left us inspired by the passion held by those working to preserve and share military heritage. If you want to find out more about AMOT, check out their website here. We’re always keen for a chat if you have a project of your own you’d like to discuss with us.
"Studio MB has worked with us to create a museum attraction that has exceeded our expectations and those of the majority of our visitors. The museum is truly transformed. It is absorbing, moving and can be enjoyed by people of all ages. The Studio MB team were clearly as passionate about the project as we were so the exchange of ideas as the project developed was always lively and thought-provoking and has resulted in something special."

"The design presented and then delivered by Studio MB has transformed our award-winning Museum. A collection that was both complex and particular has been brought to life through its interpretation and presentation. The result is an accessible collection, presented with context and empathy through innovation and technology. In summary, we got exactly what we asked for, through a design that far surpassed our expectations."
